Oh, yes.
BTW, the current JSR 160 implementation supports TLS encription as well, via RMI socket factories. Not portable (it's MX4J specific) although the classes are portable (via repackaging).

Listening on port 80 with the JMXMP connector ?
Nahhh, otherwise were all the web services (needed in any cute web-something architecture) will end up ? ;)

But then, there is MX4J's SOAP connector :P
