The most important thing at this moment is, of course, NetBeans IDE
3.3.1 release. Based on users' feedbacks about Release Candidate 2, we
decided to produce at least one more release candidate. Hopefully this
will be the last one before we'll be to able declare 3.3.1 final. See
Petr Hamernik's message for details

Guessing from nbdev traffic these days a lot of people are building
stand-alone applications on top of NetBeans. There are quite a few
success stories. However there are still many technical "annoyances."
Petr Hrebejk is driving efforts to eliminate them all, thus make
NetBeans a 100% platform. Not surprisingly he discovers interesting
issues

Subject: NetBeans platform problem nr. 1

Petr Kuzel is proposing additions in platform API to improve/enhance XML
handling. Since XML is used heavily in NetBeans, developers should pay
attention

As expected the availability of MDR stimulates quite a few activities
which would be unthinkable before. Svata Dedic is trying to make use of
MDR in the context of the java module

In 3.3 release cycle we did some performance work for the startup time.
For 3.4 there should be more, much more. Read Petr Nejedly's post and
following thread to learn a few things about how memory is used or
abused

  Subject: [nbdev] Memory usage II

Jesse Glick is proposing changes in the way NetBeans is built. Must
read for developers

Subject: [nbdev] Build process: merging directly to nbbuild/netbeans/
