NetBeans(TM) Framework Wins Crossroads 2001 A-List Award

In the last issue of the newsletter you could read that NetBeans is
running on OS/2 and VSM. This week Petr Hrebejk says that development
builds are running on the latest version of Mac Os X and lastest JDK for
it. There are still some issues, but we are close.

JUnit module was added in the CVS. Get the nbm and read documentation.

It is always cool to hear from people who use NetBeans to build or
integrate their own tools. "We are about to write a module which
integrates ArgoUML into Netbeans", says Toby Baier, engineer at
GentleWare.

The Ant module is now using Ant 1.3 beta.

WorkspaceSwitcher has been updated. WorkspaceSwitcher moves workspaces
closed to the "virtual desktop" model. There are many new features and
enhancements and it works with the new MDI mode.

Do you use NetBeans to view images? New version of the Image module has
a cool feature: you can choose zoom of the image from the "zoom
toolbar".

Svata has been working on big refactoring of the Java module. Now he has
integrated all his changes in the CVS trunk.

We always say that the API compatibility is a must. Daniel announces
NetBeans Compatibility Kit (NCK) web. The NCK is a test suite and a set
of tools used to test and certify that some version of Open API is
compatible with the specification and/or reference version. NCK is a
"work in progress", stay tuned for more information.

UI discussions about Setup Wizard are still going on. Should it be
dispayed at the first start or started from menu? Should there be a
complex setup of the IDE or just few most important things? Read more

New module "Navigator" was sent to nbusers/nbdev. It synchronizes
selected nodes in Explorer with cursor position in editor. Also it is
another possible solution the focus-follow-mouse problem.
