As everyone knows the mainly themes ot the recent talks are the new 
projects framework, the newly deprecated parts of the API and improving 
performance. Here are some of the most interesting issues which had been 
told in the last week.

** NetBeans Board **

Firstly I remind the running election of NetBeans Board. The NetBeans 
community should decide, which two will be acting in the NB Board for 
the next 6 months. React on call

Note the deadline of elections on Sunday, the October 20, please vote.

** Projects 4.0 and deprecation **

There are the discussions about Compiler and Execution API, which 
touches on the projects 4.0 because these APIs are not suitable with
them. Jarda's summary of the issues with the proposed solution find at

The thread started at

Mick Wever also brought up the ask for a lite platform base for projects 
framework in this thread.

The subject matter Semantic changes in 4.0 APIs continues to be at

there is talk about "union" FileSystem.

The removal of Utilities.ACTIVE_REFERENCE_QUEUE was announced at

The dependent sources have to use the new static method 
Utilities.activeReferenceQueue().

** performance improving **

We really know about often long response time when the first time 
invocation. Tomas Pavek covered the performance issues with the "first 
usage" by measuring UI responsiveness. There are the results at

the some comments were attached there. Tomas also attached document how

Several candidates how to improve IDE performance have been introduced. 
Trung started a talk if overriding addPropertyChangeListener of a 
JCompoment subclass is good or not. The views or notes are in the thread

An other widely discussed question, maybe too general, was started at

The advantages and disadvantage of pattern Observer vs. pattern Listener 
are pointed out by case to case, a benefit for better responsiveness was 
discussed too. The points of view are welcome.

** other topics from discussions **

Gunes Koru contributed a result of survey about the bugs handling in the 
open-source projects. For more info look at

David Konecny bring up a option how to tracing and logging the java 
code, the AcpectJ. A short descriptions and the useful links find at

On nbusers mailing is often asked and answered the question about web 
tools; jsp, tomcat. Look e.g. at Ana's answer about integration between 
the Tomcat server and the IDE at

Vincent Brabant said the FAQ list about it should be updated for these 
questions.

** No q-build **

Martin Balin had to unluckily announced no the q-build for the last 
week. Q-build report is usually available at
