Please send news contributions to [email protected] ======================================================================= <nbdev> Future direction for ANTLR A hot topic this week was what to do with the ANTLR module brought up by Brian Smith. There now seems a need for an autoload module for the ANTLR libraries, along with general upgrading of the code to nb3.4+ standards. http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=390267&listName=nbdev New VCS APIs !! Check 'em out! Module developers are encouraged to get involved with the new api. http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=391825&listName=nbdev This also raised questions about the Built-In CVS and how it will work with the new Projects module. Will the JavaCVS be a complete rewrite or be a profile in the VCSGeneric module? http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=393851&listName=nbdev Compiler and Execution API The discussion about Compiler and Execution API continued with suggestions on how to remove or deprecate them from openide. http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=392070&listName=nbdev 2Bean or not 2Bean... The discussion brought up by Trung about the possible performance hit used by too general PropertyListeners continued. A few developers requested some real performance numbers, was the effort to change the code going to be of great benefit. http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=385891&listName=nbdev No Q-Build :-( See the report: http://qa.netbeans.org/q-builds/Q-build-report-200210160100.html Failed because of just one show stopper: http://www.netbeans.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=28031 </nbdev> <openide> TreeTableView and Customising Explorers A few developers were getting their teeth stuck into the TreeTableView... http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=390247&listName=dev http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=391189&listName=dev Peak hour on thursday afternoon/friday morning Openide (and nbdev) got a boost in traffic when Jesse Glick returned from his travels late this week, obviously well rested and ready to attack all the threads on offer . Great stuff! There was also a bit of confusion this week for NNTP users as a number of threads got jumbled. http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=391486&listName=dev Take care when posting new a thread to compose a new msg, not to reply and just change the subject line. </openide> <nbusers> Board Elections closed The final week for elections, and the votes will be counted... Who will govern the new board? How many turned up to the voting booths? Lets hope more than last time. http://www.netbeans.org </nbusers> ======================================================================= This issue of NetBeans Weekly News was brought to you by Mick Wever aka Hair.
