The term of the current NetBeans governance board will expire on
September 5, 2001.  We are calling for the election of the new board

An unwanted accident happened during the migration to SourceCast caused
Sandeep Randhawa to stop being listed as the owner of the XML support
module.  The accident has been explained and corrected quickly.  No big
deal, but this is a good sign that ours is a truly open and fair
community where all members are treated equal according to common rules

Many localization efforts are going on.  We probably need infrastructure
in place to support the translators

Maya Venkatraman is issuing a final call on the shortcut registry
proposal

Graphics works are being done to make the new annotations (aka glyphs)
an integral part of NetBeans editor UI

Code which uses XML instead of java serialization to store workspaces
was merged into the CVS trunk and is available in development builds.
This new feature is still considered experimental.  You have to use a
special command line switch to turn it on.

A new round of "projects" design work begins.  Dirk Ruiz made a summary
of open issues.  Everybody is very much welcome to join the discussion
because "projects" will affect the majority of modules
