Builds and releases:

NetBeans 3.2.1 released!
3.2.1 contains many bugfixes for the 3.2 release. It is available at:
<http://www.netbeans.org/downloads.html>
Many thanks to Petr Hrebejk for the excellent work he did as 3.2 and
3.2.1 release coordinator!

NetBeans 3.3 feature freeze is scheduled for this Wednesday (Aug 29th).
Petr Hamernik, release coordinator for 3.3, created a very interesting
(though pretty alarming!) summary of bug statistics for current trunk in
comparison with 3.2 release:

<http://www.netbeans.org/release33/nb32_stabilization.html>

There was a suggestion to postpone creation of branch for 3.3 so that
bugfixes do not have to be commited into 2 places. It was accepted since
for few next weeks most developers will work on stabilization anyway:

Q-buils:
Evan describes the goals of Q-builds initiative: The primary goal of
Q-builds is to regularly produce a build with a known level of quality
so that NetBeans users can experiment with development builds. Users
can then provide feedback, including bugs, thereby improving the
release...

Contributions and Ideas:

Diff module, contributed by Martin Entlicher, is a module that provides
a Diff action to the IDE. The action is enabled when two files are
selected in the IDE and views the file differences in a graphical way...

Database Explorer module, contributed by Radko Najman, was previously
part of the Sun's Forte for Java and now it is moving to the open source
world. By few words it is possible to say that it is a simple database
administrative tool which works with a lot of databases.

NetBeans on conferences:
NetBeans is presented at the LinuxWorld Expo in San Francisco this week.

Development:

Module owners will be able to publish their modules on autoupdate server
asynchronously, not requiring coordination with release engineers and
QA. Read the discussion on this topic:

Several discussion on nbui to get the UI polished before feature freeze:

Merge annotations and line numbers? Display line numbers in the editor
by default? A long thread about default appearance of the source editor:
