This was a bumper week for module contributions! Among modules newly
contributed, in process, or getting settled, I can count at least:
C/C++/Fortran support; external editor integration (XEmacs/VIM);
visual version diff support; and several things from Forte for Java
including Database Explorer; CORBA; XML; and file copy. If your
contribution is not mentioned here, it is because we lost track!

How to merge existing work with new contributions? Affects XML and also DB:

Quality: last week's Q-build is still being fixed; the previous week's
is available. Bugs: some evidence of fixing, but a long way to go.

Users want more automated tests run - too many simple things broken.

And how do we decide what is an acceptable level of bugs for a release, or
for a daily build? A concrete proposal and some response.

Is the JavaCVS module ready for production use? Most people say yes:

The new Terminal Emulator instead of Output Window is available for testing.

Many heated arguments about this or this bug (or design?), upshot seems to
be that there are some UI bugs which will need to be fixed but otherwise OK:

The effort to use layers to represent the window system, has borne fruit.

Who will be the next NB-arbitration-meisters?

"C++ Lite" module now has some JNI support as well, try it out:

Quite a discussion of what you should or should not do with the editor
gutter, such as clicking on it vs. getting a context menu:
  <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=150115&listName=nbui>
And how users should interact with debugger breakpoints:

For a while let's try turning off those pesky line numbers and see if anyone
really notices:

Complaints about new and strange features in Tools | Options. What does
it all mean?
  <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=150752&listName=nbdev>
And will it really let you revert all changes you might make?

Someone using NetBeans + Jython support as the core for a special-purpose
development application:
