I was hopping that I'll be able to say that we have the Beta of
NetBeans 3.3 out. We have not but we are coming closer. Maybe you'll

Are you interested in tight integration of IDE and an UML tool. If so,
you may want to read following announcement:

Some people think that the current splash screen is old. They even start
sending proposals for a new one. You can find them in following thread.
(Feel free to send your proposal)

If you are more interested in texts than in pictures look at the nbui
mailing list for philosophical discussion about how should a splash
screen look like.

Trung switched the XML parser for layers from the Xerces to faster
Crimson. This should improve the startup performance.

We have also Interesting thread about listeners performance. The
question is should the event firing from JavaBeans be synchronous or can
we use a separate thread.

Another performance improvement can be done in file recognizing. See the
proposal and the following discussion at:

Don't look for the Browsing workspace and for the ObjectBrowser in
NetBeans ant longer. It was finally removed and will be available on
UpdateCenter only.
