The bad news is that the bug count is still high. The good news is that we've finally reached the state when the IDE is ready for the first beta. See Petr Hamernik's post on nbdev Subj: [nbdev] [nb 3.3] status update (beta1, today Q-build, etc.) URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=172136&listName=nbdev> Core developers are putting together the upgrade guide for module developers who want to make sure their existing code will work smoothly and take benefit of all the new improvements in the platform in 3.3 release. The first draft of the guide is already available and is being reviewed on openide-dev mailing list at this moment. Subj: [openide-dev] Draft of 3.2 -> 3.3 upgrade guide URL: <http://openide.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=169860&listName=dev> People are building interesting applications on top of the NetBeans platform. Oftentimes those applications even have nothing to do with the IDE. To learn more about what can be built read an interview with James MacGill "James MacGill interview" URL: <http://www.netbeans.org/articles/interviews/> After a mini-flame about signatures of two methods in OpenAPIs died down (with an agreed upon solution) Evan Adams posted some observations. He is tinkering with an idea of the NetBeans Architecture Council. Expect the discussion will continue. Subj: Re: [openide-dev] XMLUtil.toXXX throws IOException URL: <http://openide.netbeans.org/servlets/ReadMsg?msgId=171351&listName=dev> There is a proposal to drop the guarantee of "buildability" of NetBeans source code using ant 1.3. In other words in the future we may require ant 1.4 to be used to build NetBeans Subj: [nbdev] should we require ant 1.4.x to build NetBeans?
