RE: Teaching with NetBeans

Some very good tips Ray. 

Since I'm not the prof, just the Lab Supervisor, I'll have to work with
the prof on some of the ideas but he will be very open to them. He has a
problem with the cheating as well so he comes up with a new assignment
basically a few days before it gets handed out and he's running out of
ideas. Plus that leaves me little to no time to work on it myself to
give students the help.

Students have also complained about the fact that we do very little
group work so that is something I'd like to see integrated as well.

In regards to installations in a computer lab, are there any tips for
configuring the IDE with REALLY generic default directories (like the
root of a network share possibly) so work with multi-user computer labs?
For instance, we'll be using DeepFreeze on our Win2K machines so
anything saved on the local drives will be wiped when the user logs out.

I just spent the past hour or so trying to run NetBeans under SuSE Linux
8.2. It wasn't fun. I'm not that familiar with Linux but I was able to
at least get it running. I just wish the latest Sun SDK had got
installed in the right spot! 
I'll figure something out.

hy bother, just download and install. having installed stuff in student 
labs at csulb.edu, i know what a pain that can be, so keep it simple and

save yourself some work.
