the real problem is, i can not really change anything without jumping 
*many* hoops during a short period of time when they make the master c: 
drives for *all* 300 or so machines in the labs. best i can hope for is 
that whoever did the install did something reasonable and i can point it to 
some config file or something.

yes, that was the book. i have hatchers also, but not with me.
