Hi all,

Just a little information update for you:

This week the NetBeans.org project has reached a yet another milestone.
The first and most mature open source Java IDE on the market has grown
into the premier software development tool community and platform
worldwide.

There are now 100,000+ developers on NetBeans.org mailing lists
<http://www.netbeans.org/community/lists/top.html> and participating in
the open source project. Recent rave reviews of the upcoming and
extensible NetBeans IDE 4.0 <http://www.netbeans.org/products/ide/> and
NetBeans Platform 4.0 <http://www.netbeans.org/products/platform/>
framework is aiding not only the adoption of Java but opening doors and
eyes to the viability of open source projects across multiple market
segments.

As an open source pioneer with products based on 100% pure Java, the
philosophy of interoperability, standards and the belief in
incorporating the latest technologies, our open community remains at the
forefront.

Announced at the first ever NetBeans Day at JavaOne 2004 was a
contribution by Sun of approximately 350,000 lines of code valued at $14
million from its commercial Sun Java Studio Standard integrated
development environment (IDE) to the NetBeans open source project. This
contribution plays a vital role in the NetBeans 4.0
<http://www.netbeans.org/community/releases/40/beta.html> release and
assures a leading role in the future of Java mobile, web and desktop
application development.

In the few weeks time that the NetBeans 4.0 beta has been available
there have been tens of thousands of downloads by developers spanning
the globe and anticipating the upcoming release. Get the latest release
