MSc - Can you help get me started?

Hi I am about to commence the dissertation section of my MSc and I am 
thinking of doing a project around Meta Data Repositories. I have found 
your pages and would like to take a look . I have installed Net beans 4.1, 
but I cannot get any further than that. Website seems to suggest MDR is 
included with this release, but MDR explorer doesn't work. Can you help 
get me started on what i need to do to see this MDR stuff? I am not very 
familiar with Java.

Would like to know how you intend for this to be used etc.
