Nb 8.2 a great platform to port to when still sitting on Nb 6.5 platform app

I am grateful to all of you being involved for the numerous NetBeans releases over the years. I started with Nb 5.0 and settled on Nb 6.5 for a big application. (go to  https://platform.netbeans.org/screenshots.html and search for Vinland). 

Over the years I have made a number of attempts to migrate to a newer NetBeans platform but was put off by some nasty showstoppers. This was not the case with Nb 8.2 and JDK 1.8.0_102.
