I am aware that there will be changes from the upcoming build systems
introduction, but it is somewhat related so thanks for mentioning it. 

I am actually specifically asking to have the types of file systems
categorized by type in a folder and in order, because that is relevant
when it comes to say using tag libraries in a web module and viewing
what tag libraries are available (which is relevant when you configure
a web module). 

IMO, icons next to the file name are not really sufficient to
distinguish between different types.
