More Keystroke Problems on OS-X

Hi all,

there exists another serious problem with keystrokes under OS-X: I cannot
produce some of the characters required for programming. I am using a
German keyboard on a PowerBook G4 and find that some key combinations are
not working inside Net Beans / Sun Studio 5:

key|normal mapping|Sun Studio
===+==============+==========
  { | OPT-8 |CTRL-OPT-8
  } | OPT-9 |CTRL-OPT-9
  | | OPT-7 |CTRL-OPT-7
  \ | OPT-SHIFT-7 |FNCT-OPT-0
  [ | OPT-5 |???
  ] | OPT-6 |???
  @ | OPT-L |???
  € | OPT-E |???	(OK, won't need that for programming...)

With 'OPT' I mean the button on the left hand side of the keyboard, next to
the Apple-key, labelled "alt" in tiny writing and showing half a bathtub.

In addition to the problem of /producing/ the characters, there is the
question of /mapping/ the characters to the key caps. In case of the '@',
for instance, there is a nice drawing on the key, so I would like the key
combination to procuce that character to have something to do with that.

The other way round: if there was a visual key-mapping feature, I could
COPY-PASTE a '@' character into the dialog and map it to OPT-L.

Any ideas?
