Forwarding a message from Petr Jiřička which didn't come through. (Are you subscribed?) --------------------- Hi Jesse, I like the proposal. The problem with project groups has always been that there are too many meanings of what they potentially could be, and everyone has a different expectation of what a project group could do for them. This proposal addresses most of the major use cases why project groups were ever requested. I have just a couple comments. First, I consider project groups a potentially suitable mechanism for addressing the project sharability and headless build requirements, i.e. I would like to check in a project into CVS, and after checking out on another machine, I should be able to build it without requiring the IDE to be installed. In fact, I must say I did not yet see a complete proposal in this space that would *not* involve project groups in some form. So, would it be possible to somehow enhance the project group concept to also address this issue? In particular, the Folder group and Master project group could be suitable for addressing this. Secondly (and this is perhaps related to the previous note), would it be sometimes useful to share some types of project groups among users, rather than making them private as you suggest? Again, the Folder group and Master project group look like good candidates, as they are intrinsically the same for all users. Or at least, there could be the *option* to share them with others. Thanks, Petr
