Heh, well until yesterday I thought Mozilla sucked too.
You have to install the language(s) in Moz (Edit | Prefs |
Navigator | Languages).  I added all chinese variations.

However that alone didn't work, I then had to install the
asian fonts for the OS (on win they are on the orig install
CD, can't find them online).  On XP it is Control Panel |
Regional and Language options, Languages | and check the
"install asian language files" box.  You'll need an install
CD.

Don't know about linux, haven't done this there (yet).

Sure it is, if you save it that way! :-)

Once you're OS has the fonts everything will work.
