I would go ahead with it ;)

It would make it possible to have content that depends on the 
activity of the localized user base. I for one would love to
tell people the Dutch localization is well underway on the
nl.netbeans.org page.

Now that is kind of hidden away ....

And maybe a request for a ISO.netbeans.org site would have
to be followed up by at least a number of standard pages
to be available?

Anyway, my .02 euro cents.
