We say explicitely that this version will *not* be maintained, i.e. there will be no 4.x version WTF ! A release is a release (as you can guess by it's name), so bug will be fixed, etc. > - we continue the development in the trunk, applying the change from interfaces to abstract classes, and we release an ASM 5.0 beta in one or two weeks with these changes. The "beta" will indicate that the "commons", "util" and "xml" APIs may still change (but the "asm" and "tree" ones will not). > > Eric Eric, I'm not against changing the shape of ASM in a future release, and introducing something to provide more backward compatibility is not a bad idea. But please, we have time to implement this change, I don't understand why you want to release ASM 5 in a hurry without extensively test and gather users data for something which is a major change in the design of ASM. Also Java 8 will come with modules and other extensions, we will have to support them so it will be a good exercise to test and validate the new design to try to implement them in a backward compatible way. We have time, let's use it ! Rémi
