Things are still in flux here, we are in a kind of awkward position, as planned the jdk9b148 was updated with some changes that impact the classfile format so you can not use ASM6 alpha1 to read a module-info anymore, but i don't think it' a good idea to release an alpha2 now, because more changes are not yet integrated (there are planned to be integrated in two weeks) and these changes are heavy from ASM point of view. The first change add a reference to a version in the require directive, the other change introduces two new constants in the constant pool, both are breaking changes. Given that those changes should be integrated in two weeks, i think we should just delay the release of ASM to the week after xmas. So if you want to test ASM6 with the latest jdk9 (jdk9b148), the best is to use the source version from the ASM6_FUTURE branch. cheers, Rémi ----- Mail original ----- > De: "Remi Forax" <[email protected]> > À: [email protected] > Envoyé: Jeudi 1 Décembre 2016 00:06:34 > Objet: ASM6 - Alpha2 > Hi all, > i've just updated the ASM6 branch [1] to the latest spec of jigsaw [2] which > should be merged next week (or the week after) into the jdk9. > Most of the issues related to the classfile format have been resolved by the > expert group, and the last pending issues should not impact the ASM API. > > I propose to release an alpha2 version of ASM6 so tools like Maven will be able > to work with jdk9 in sync with the release of the corresponding beta of jdk9. > > If you have a project that use ASM, please, grab the source of ASM6 and test > with the latest binaries of jdk9-jigsaw [3] to see if i've not stupidly > introduced regressions. > > cheers, > Rémi > > [1] > http://websvn.ow2.org/listing.php?repname=asm&path=%2Fbranches%2FASM_6_FUTURE%2Fasm%2F > [2] http://cr.openjdk.java.net/~mr/jigsaw/spec/lang-vm.html > [3] https://jdk9.java.net/jigsaw/ -- You receive this message as a subscriber of the [email protected] mailing list.
