(Complete) Workflow Samples?

Hi all,
For many days I've been exploring many framework
like ofbiz, espresso, open symphony,etc.

In designing workflow:
I found ofbiz was 'pure XML' stylish,
I found espresso was 'pure java' stylish
I found os was 'both' stylish

This  is a good design, I think.
However, is there a '(complete) workflow working example'  
that explaining  the  head and the tail of workflow that I can test on?
caused I see the so many little samples scattered
over the site, but I can't find the complete one(s)?
