Very true. In my case, I'm talking about a more normal model, where you have machines, real or virtual, with particular roles. In my view, one of the core assumptions of App Engine is that it has already given up on trying to keep your data together, and the data's behavior with the data: it assumes a distributed model, and the costs that come with it. As far as I can tell, that contradicts a core Prevayler goal, which is the efficiency gains you get by keeping everything within one process on one physical machine.
