But what defines a *(Generic)* Database API?

API Semantics..


Does the API have to be generic (crud commands) as opposed to domain
specific (AddCustomerCommand, SetCustomerCreditLimit)?

Yes.



But in the end.. i agree with you.. database is an information store.. but
prevalence is another *style* of database.. very different from generic
(including some nosql) database engines..
