People would have complained a lot more if they did. They would have said that removal of the food taster it's a show stopper for their existing application. Nobody here said such a thing. Actually, I did (:-). We really needed rollback, it was a show-stopper, and the food taster was too heavy on memory and time. We implemented it by generating transaction inverses, and applying them when an exception occurs. We can generate these inverses automatically, so it makes this a convenient solution. Why we can do this is outside the scope of the discussion, but we can. I agree with Robert that an implementation is context and application specific. In our case, because we can generate inverse operations fairly easily, it was a good solution. That may not (will not?) be the case in other applications. > I think the closest we got to that this time was people stating that other people they know fear using Prevayler if it lacks a rollback feature. > > If this assessment is true, then I feel even less positive towards adding such features in Prevayler. It's spending time on stuff that will not be used, and code that isn't used has a tendency to both start breaking down after a while and add complexity to code that indeed is in use. Less is more, and all that. > > > > karl > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > LogMeIn Rescue: Anywhere, Anytime Remote support for IT.
