What tool to use for Scarab documentation ?

Hi;

I want to add some information to the Scarab documentation.
As it is all currently written in docbook format, i would like to 
adapt to that. What kind of editor would you recommend to use ?
I preferably search for a reasonable good plugin for eclipse ...

The main constraint would be, that the editor should be able to read
the Scarab's docbook source files without mangling whitespaces
when saving ;-)

so in order to save me some experimentation time, i am eager listening 
on any hint from you ;-)
