I was doing the tests on my laptop (an iBook G4). I decided to test SISCweb's performance on a server (a Linux box with a 2.4 Ghz P4) and the results were amazing, all the performance problems disappeared! I guess the performance problem on my iBook has something to do with Apple's implementation of the JVM.
