Sun Microsystems, Inc. is submitting 22 Proposals covering both licensing and technical changes to 40 existing specifications plus one new specification to the Jini Community for approval as Standards under the Jini Community Decision Process (JDP). The number of specifications is large in part because we are proposing to change their licensing, switching away from the Sun Community Source License (SCSL), and moving to the Apache License, Version 2.0 plus the Jini Community Standards Patent Non-Assertion Covenant. The number of proposals is large because, based on earlier feedback from the community, we have placed independent specification changes into independent proposals. The materials comprising the Proposals are: * Summaries of the proposed technical changes * New and revised specifications, licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 plus the Jini Community Standards Patent Non-Assertion Covenant * Marked-up differences between existing and proposed standards (subject to the limitations of JDiff, and change bars in PDF files) * The Jini Technology Starter Kit v2.1Beta release, which includes source and binary implementations of the proposed specifications * Test suites The Proposals are available here: http://www.jini.org/nonav/standards/Proposals/Porter/proposal.html We encourage everyone in the community to review these proposals, with discussion taking place on [email protected]. - Bob =========================================================================== To unsubscribe, send email to [email protected] and include in the body of the message "signoff JAVASPACES-USERS".
