Hi all Perhaps this is not the right forum for this mail - apologies if this is the case. Part of our customer's requirements indicate that we must provide real-time dynamic provisioning capabilities. (i.e. when consumers are not consuming fast enough - start more consumers, when consumers are "going hungry" stop some consumers) As ever, we're reluctant to re-invent wheels - and have been looking at Rio. We've been comparing the ubiquitous "RayTrace" examples that come both with the Rio download, and the Jini starter kit - and have noticed a big performance differential between both examples. This degradation expresses itself - as more workers are started. Obviously we are aware that Rio will consumer CPU cycles - but has anyone out there observed similar behaviour? Care to share your experiences? We'd be interested to know if anyone has performed any form of "platform sizing". It would be good to know what platform specifications/sizes they have decided on when using Rio in combination with their "applications".
