Subject: Inca X Runtime for NetBeans & other IDES

Dear All,

Firstly thanks to everybody that got in touch expressing an interest in a Community Edition plugin for NetBeans. It turns out that the bulk of the interest, not surprisingly, was for NB 4.x.

We will be providing a CE plugin for NB 4.x later this year, but as a stopgap we have released a free Runtime Edition of Inca X, which you can use with any IDE to create and deploy Jini 2.1 services.

I have written up some basic instructions on how to use Inca X RT with NB 4.1, but the same principles should apply to whatever IDE you use, IntelliJ, JDeveloper etc.

The new product can be used in several ways

1.. Just as a tool to stop and start the Jini services that come with Inca X RT, which also includes Blitz and GigaSpaces
2.. As a tool to generate the code for new Jini services
3.. As a deployment test platform for your existing services

Instructions on using Inca X RT with NetBeans 4.1 can be found here

Please let us know how you get along with the software or if you encounter any problems - it is a beta release !!!

Thank you for your time

Phil Bishop
