Apologies if you've already been hit by the following e-mail on the
JINI user group (as I suspect many of you have) - but for those who
haven't please read on...

Paremus announced codeCauldron (http://www.codeCauldron.org) , a
directed open source community (16th of May):

Typically, open source communities are either technology / direction
agnostic, or focused upon the use of a particular technology ( i.e.
Jini Community, Eclipse OSGi community etc). In contrast, the intent
behind the codeCauldron community is to harness the creativity of
like-minded individuals to achieve a specific end goal; a new
generation of distributed adaptive Service Fabric; i.e. "Life after
JEE!"

Paremus believe that the capabilities required to realize this vision
are currently found only in a hybridization of Jini, OSGi and JXTA -
each technology embodying critically important and orthogonal
concepts. For example, whilst OSGi provides an industry standard
deployment, service assembly and component life-cycle management
capability, Jini provides the obvious remoting framework! It should
be noted that the OSGi community is starting to wonder about how
distributed enterprise computing should be addressed. Whilst the
answer should involve Jini, the usual industry politics and biases
are also at play.

The codeCauldron community will be working to promote Jini / OSGi
integration and, as previously alluded to by others in the Jini
community, reduce the impedance / mismatch between these
technologies. It is hoped that our efforts will influence the
respective Jini and OSGi communities, so promote co-evolution of Jini
and OSGi.


Paremus announce Infiniflow Distributed Service Framework as an Open
Source Project (16th of May):

To kick off the process, the Infiniflow DSF (Distributed Services
Framework) is being made available to the codeCauldron community
under the GPL license,  a commercial license also available from
Paremus. Those interested in the current capabilities of Infiniflow
DSF, should check the codeCauldron site after the 5th of June, when a
source code download and examples will be available. To help
cultivate interest, Paremus have also sponsored a competition for the
most innovative application or component built upon Infiniflow DSF.
Entries need to be submitted by the 1st of December 2006, the winner
(as judged by the Paremus engineering team) receiving the latest and
greatest Apple (presumably Intel WoodCrest?) workstation!

any questions on any aspects of our approach, technology or community
