Hi all I'm new to the list, did some Jini things around 2000 but it never went commercial. I a currently looking at the next generation of our companys core platform (currently it is a non-scaling server) and have been brushing up on Jini and I will do some tests to see if it is the way we want to go (which i hope). Our service is basically a web server with different services, so I'm thinking thin Jini proxies and work on the servers in most if not all cases. Anyways - two questions for starters: 1) How to do centralized logging? Just have the log servers register and then do the actual logging via UDP? Or use some Jini-thing like events or something completely different? How do people do this in general? 2) How to do database access? Would a JavaSpace where request and response objects (sort of) are put be a "good" way of going about this? If yes, is there a nice way of the server(s) to pick the older requests before new ones? Should there be multiple JavaSpaces or just one? Is there a "standard" way of going about this? I do understand these questions are sort of general and maybe hard to answer but just want to pick your brains, plz comment and tell me if i need to clarify something or read some FAQ.
