The mail to the users list last week evoked a
couple of responses -- but I don't think sufficient
to derail us from where we were headed.
The final tally (prioritized order) of names getting
multiple votes of support were:
* river
* damask
* constellation
* tonic
* shaman
Therefore, I'd like us to move ahead with "river".
I've already made the changes to the Apache wiki
(see the proposal at:
<http://wiki.apache.org/incubator/RiverProposal>).
If you have any last minute *strong* feelings of
reservation - please raise them now. We need to
move ahead early this week. I'd like to ask the
initial committers on Monday or Tuesday to move
ahead with the incubator list and call for a vote.
I'll just throw one other "random" comment into the
mix (with the hopes that I'm not messing up things
myself)... there has been a strong feeling from some
that the name should have something to do or related
to Jini (instead of just a "cool" name) -- one thought
I had was to adjust "river" with "jiniriver". Not sure if
that's a trademark violation or not... but I don't think
that name is bad and may help bridge the gap.
What do you think?
If I don't hear strongly on going that way (or if people
hate that idea), we'll just move forward with "river".
Let me know.
Thanks again for all your help -Jim
