Actually, when you click on a text input control, it switches to the standard input control (TextField) so all advantages of predictive input, input masks, etc. are still there. Similar approach to GMail for JME. The Game Canvas was not designed to be the input mechanism of choice for text and thus a lot of implementations to not support IMEs there.
