Georges If the RMI Registry can find the classes on its own CLASSPATH it will not only ignore the java.rmi.server.codebase annotation, it will in effect remove it from the class, so the client won't have any way of locating the classes. If you're using the codebase feature make sure that the classes are *not* available on the classpath of the Registry or the clients.
