Switching from https to https

I'm trying to switch from https to https after a user has been successfully been authenticated. Using SSL for password. This must've been done before?

I do know about the possibility of hijacking the session id, cookie, after switching to http.

Tryed using servlet filters to redirect URL but couldn't catch URL's being redirected with forward(...).
