BTW, I requested libffi and SableVM in February *2003*, there did not seem to be
too much interest:

I initially installed all libs from Fink except for libffi.  I did not
re-installed Fink following my hard drive crash.  One thing to do would be to
confirm that all libs and correct version are available from fink for the latest
release.

The other package manager available is DarwinPorts:
http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/

DarwinPorts does have a libffi package.  Don't know for other dependencies. 
This will be something to check.  Might be a good idea to request a SableVM
port.  If all deps there, should be easy if DarwinPorts developers are willing
to help.

Finally, there is Gentoo MacOS.  But this last packaging system was too
experimental the last time I checked and several dependencies were not working
on OS X.

Note that once the deps installed, SableVM should build out-the-box though
sometimes some issues might arise due to some GNUish tools or options.
