Re: 1.1.7 final(?) tarballs available

I am concerned that this release of sablevm-classpath-1.1.7 requires 
Gtk-2.0 >= 2.4.

I believe that adoption of open source VMs among non-gurus would 
increase if projects like SableVM didn't impose package requirements 
that are not common. You and I and geeks like us can compile our own Gtk 
2.4 from Garnome or straight from gnome.org source, or update to debian 
unstable, or just emerge in Gentoo. But if we want open source VMs to be 
more accepted by the "mainstream" and less of a geek toy, we have to 
accommodate them, not ask them to accommodate us.

Distros with Gtk 2.4 are just coming out now. It will be many years 
before the bulk of existing Linux users upgrade to Gtk 2.4 based 
distros. Enterprise Linux users in particular cannot upgrade every time 
there's a new version. I know of a few hundred Linux users in a Forture 
5000 in the USA, which still have Red Hat 9, for example.

So I ask, is it too late to change things so that we can use SableVM 
under distros that worked with 1.1.6? Because this change to Gtk 2.4 
breaks SableVM for a lot of distros that used to work with me in 1.1.6. 
This is what I tested under:

SuSE 9.1
