Let me clear this up: network-hosted apps get around the distribution 
clause sufficiently that they don't need to provide the source to the 
user. With credit, as I worded it above, I meant a link to where the 
source can be downloaded. I was told credit means something else; not a 
native speaker, sorry. Appreciate alternate description.

The end-user is entitled to know his or her freedoms in my opinion, and 
the GPL doesn't offer any guarantees for that for network-hosted apps.
