So how would this work in an .xwt file?  the <xwt> block would be inside of 
a <cdata> block?

Funny guy.  :-)  I concede, but do you really want to go the way of the IETF 
in allowing non-7bit-standard-ascii characters in variable names/traps and 
(potentially) core engine functions/operators?  Maybe a unicode only in 
strings or something?
