I can make it shorter (100 msec or even 50 msec). In fact you (Matthew, Nuno) can test by adding: LabelTransitionsDuration=50 in ~/.kde4/share/config/oxygenrc (or ~/.kde/...) under the [Style] section. Nuno: could you try ksysguard with these animations ? Look at the "system load" tab, containing graphs. Matthew: I do agree that the label animation in this case is somewhat overkill/annoying, because the labels are updated every seconds, although I don't find it intrusive enough to alter the user experience (but that's only my opinion). Now I also agree with Nuno that IMO this is not the majority of cases and that in many cases the animation does look/feel good. In enough cases in fact so that I would rather keep the animation ON by default. On your suggestion to turn off the animation, since we're in string freeze, I can't add an option to disable this animation only. So that turning it off means basically turning it off permanently for kde4.4 ... (unless people edit their oxygenrc file manually, which is not an option). On your suggestion to turn it off except when apps ask for it, this requires either application changes (which are unlikely to happen), or some sort of exception handling (similar to what we have in the window decoration), which won't happen either for kde4.4 (and is likely not desirable). So the only question I see today is: do we or do we not want to have label animations (at all) in kde4.4. Alternatively: keep the situation as it is now, and if people are annoyed with animations, they can turn them _all_ off in oxygen configuration. Or are you suggesting to turn them _all_ off by default. I don't think we have any other option available at that stage. (kde4.5 is another story). > > ______________________________________________________________________________ [email protected] | https://mail.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-artists
