Well, I can see how geography, just like integral calculus, isn't a priority for the populace. On the other hand, I can also see how people would know more about local geography than the geography from half way around the world. If you asked a German where the Province of Quebec was or you asked a Quebekker where Germany was on a map, I wouldn't at all be surprised if the response was wrong a good percentage of the time.
