  You could go buy gold bars, or a car, or a computer... Seriously, you don't 
really think that governments must still operate on the gold standard do you? 
It's really quite impractical.

  I would note the debate concerning the existance of a Federal Bank is 
virtually as old as the U.S. itself. Is it a good idea? A bad idea? Well, 
let's just say its always worked quite well, and continues to work better 
than most of the government.
