Christ is not a very good choice for civil disobedience to an empire. Jesus
as well as early Christians did their work while attempting -- although not
succeeding -- to be friendly with the Roman Empire.

"Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, give to God what is God's."
                                                  --Matthew 22:21

The Apostle Paul also wrote:
"Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no
authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist
have been established by God. 2Consequently, he who rebels against the
authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so
will bring judgment on themselves."
                                                  --Romans 13:1-2

In other words the Christian view is that government good or bad serves some
purpose and the goal should not be to destroy it but to worry about spirtual
things and not worry about fighting Caesar (for instance, like the Jews were
doing at the time of Christ).
