  I think a lot of it has to be that GTK+ is free no matter if you do
proprietary or Free Software development. It might also be momentium.
While I have always and continue to use KDE, I find myself using a lot
of GTK apps. Here's my most used app list as of today:

GTK-based
=========
Evolution (New!)
Gaim (for at least two or three years)
Gimp (for at least five years)
AbiWord (for about two years)
XMMS (for at least five years)
Mandrake DrakTools

GTK-Friendly Apps
=================
OpenOffice.org
Mozilla

KDE/Qt-based
============
Konqueror
Kate/Kwrite
Konsole
[Plus KDE itself]

Perhaps I'm atypical, but I find that most of the "big name"
applications aren't KDE based. Kopete may eventually usurp Gaim and
KWord may someday pass by AbiWord, but for the most part the GTK apps
don't have a complete replacement that is Qt-based. Obviously, since I
used it for years, there is no reason can't use KMail instead of
Evolution, but other than that.

My point, if you are wondering, is that I would suspect that most
developers might be prone to building apps using the same framework that
the applications they already use, use.

  Maybe not. Thoughts?
