Yes same home directory and $KDEDIR...  that's the way it has to be if
the KDE applications are going to be storing data and stuff.

One of the problems is, for instance the Red Hat konqueror.desktop
file is not located in the same place as the FreeBSD konqueror.desktop
file.

This is a serious problem.

There's no way I'm going to ask for that...  afaik the workstations
here have the minimal customizations necessary to the basic distros,
for easy version upgrades.  Our sysadmins are busy enough as it is
without having to deal with a major KDE redeployment.
