That's not entirely true anymore. The Cingular and AT&T networks are
mostly moved over to GSM (instead of CDMA) and T-Mobile has always been
GSM just like it is in Europe. Thus, if you have a GSM phone in Europe,
such as the Nokia 36xx series, I can get a very similar phone here.

There do seem to be some differences in the MHz's (850 vs. 900 or some
such), but I think T-Mobile and AT&T might even use the same MHz range
as European systems.
