Bug ID: 523830
Summary: Set brush size by releasing modifier.
Classification: Applications
Product: krita
Version First 5.3.3
Reported In:
Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Other
Status: REPORTED
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: Shortcuts and Canvas Input Settings
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
Whenever I want to finely tune the size of my brush using the "normal" action
to resize via dragging, I need to either let go of of my left mouse button, or
lift my pen. The latter is very likely to cause a slight jitter and noticeably
change the size of my brush while below 1px, sometimes above. "Snap" does not
fix the issue. I very often need sub-pixel precision.
This can be alleviated with external software via using a precision mode or pen
movement lock, but I don't think anyone wants to rely on additional tools for
something that should probably be built-in. You can also type the value in, but
this leads to annoying interruptions where I only do so after getting too
frustrated with being unable to pick the right size via shortcuts
I believe having a checkbox within input called "stop/lock on mod(ifier)
release" or a separate action labeled something like "Normal+lock on mod
release" would be a massive improvement. Having a setting for this at all would
be hugely appreciated.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Shift/mod+pen drag at low px brush size.
2. Hold brush size between .01-2px
3. Lift pen
OBSERVED RESULT
Losing my carefully chosen brush size several times in a row before giving up.
EXPECTED RESULT
To not have to use my drawing tool to lock my quickly and carefully chosen
brush size.
