Bug ID: 524444
Summary: can not assign tags by right the image
Classification: Applications
Product: digikam
Version First 9.1.0
Reported In:
Platform: Microsoft Windows
OS: Microsoft Windows
Status: REPORTED
Severity: major
Priority: NOR
Component: Tags-Manager
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
DESCRIPTION
**Summary**
digiKam 9.1.0 on Windows: assigning tags using the image right-click context
menu hangs indefinitely at “Assigning image Tags” with progress at 0%.
Assigning the same tags through the right sidebar Captions → Tags → Apply works
correctly.
**Version**
digiKam 9.1.0
Platform: Microsoft Windows
Database: SQLite
**Steps to reproduce**
1. Start digiKam 9.1.0.
2. Select one or more images.
3. Right-click the selected image(s).
4. Choose the option to assign a tag.
5. Select an existing tag or create a new tag.
6. digiKam displays “Assigning image Tags”.
7. Progress remains at 0% and the tag is not assigned.
**Observed result**
The “Assigning image Tags” operation remains at 0% and does not complete.
This occurs with both tagged and previously untagged items and has been
observed with several file types, including JPG, NEF, WMV, MP4, MPEG and MOV.
**Expected result**
The selected tag should be assigned immediately to all selected images.
**Workaround**
Selecting the same image(s), opening the right sidebar and using:
Captions → Tags → tick required tag → Apply
works correctly, including when multiple images are selected.
**Troubleshooting already performed**
* Tested with Lazy Synchronization enabled — no change.
* Database cleaning performed — no change.
* SQLite database backed up and checked.
* Tested using a completely new SQLite digiKam database containing only a few
test images — problem still occurs.
* Tested with a fresh digiKam configuration by renaming the existing
`digikamrc` and allowing digiKam to create a new default configuration —
problem still occurs.
* “Monitor the albums for external changes” is disabled.
* Restored original database and configuration — problem remains.
* Tagging through Captions → Tags → Apply continues to work normally.
The problem therefore appears specific to the context-menu tag-assignment
operation rather than the SQLite database, image files, metadata writing, or
saved digiKam configuration.
EXPECTED RESULT file should have a new tag on reght click
